Iron Works BBQ has one of the most welcoming laid-back patios in Austin and has been a favorite since 1978. Whether it’s in the back or on top of the roof, it feels like home with the picnic tables laden with gingham tablecloths. The food? In a city which is receiving national attention for its BBQ, their Ribs and Sausage can compete against the best and have set the standard for true Texas Barbecue for decades.

TIP:  Hours Mon-Sat 11am-9pm.  Closed Sunday.  Meat, sauces and Seasonings can be bought online. Catering Available.
Iron Works Barbecue on Urbanspoon

Iron Works BBQ is a perfect launching point for the evening as it’s close to 6th street and downtown.  Although, if a continued patio experience is on the agenda, Rainey Street is the place to head.  The Blackheart is one of the greatest finds as it has seating in the front yard and amazing seating on it’s back patio with a stage set up for live music.  Grab one of their amazing cocktails and enjoy.

TIP:  Open daily 3pm-2am.

Icenhauer’s is a great example of why Rainey Street is a premiere destination for the evening in Austin.  Similar to The Blackheart with it’s transformed, renovated vintage style  cottage, and it’s cool patio, it is a place which feels like a friends’ home where relaxing with a cocktail is easy.

TIP:  Open daily 4pm-2am.
