Spun Ice Cream is an example of why Austin has quickly become a foodie haven. It was started by two sisters here in Austin…and it’s genius niche to the Frozen Dessert world with ice cream made of nitrogen. Huge contraptions out of the ceiling looks like a science project while ice cream bowls are made right front of the audience of patrons. It’s a fun experience and the end result is delicious ice cream.
TIP: Hours Sun -Thurs 12:30-10pm Fri-Sat 12:30-11pm. Check page for truck, and pop up locations.
Salt & Time is one of the best gems in East Austin, and right next door to Spun Ice Cream. A butcher shop along with a restaurant serving brunch, lunch and dinner, where the food and beer are fresh, the booths are cozy, and the staff is friendly. Try the Roast Beef Sandwich with carmelized onions, pickled green tomatoes, and aoili on ciabatta, and definitely don’t leave without buying their butcher and charcuterie meats.
TIP: Hours Tues-Thurs from 11am-9pm; Fri-Sat 11am-10pm and Sun 11am-6pm.
Both locations within 100 feet of each other at 1912 East 7th Street, East Austin.
