JOSEPHINE HOUSE:

Josephine House has one of the best patios in Austin for Lunch, Brunch or Happy Hour.  A classy, gorgeous blue cottage in the middle of Clarksville, this restaurant has a cozy indoor dining room, 2 patios and lawn seating for endless options for enjoying the outdoors.  The delicious cuisine is farm to table, with the hamburger as a winner on the menu, and one of the best in the city. They also have the best brunch in the city, with anything from a simple fruit bowl to Huevos Rancheros, shown above. There is no doubt, it will stay on the Keep Austin Eatin’ favorite list for years.

SLEDD NURSERY:

Across the street from Josephine House is a locally owned nursery, where the plants and flowers have been grown with love by a mother and son team since 1978. Spring is a perfect time to buy new bulbs, clay pots, and birdhouses, and Sledd Nursery has a gorgeous selection. Definitely make time to stop by before or after a meal.

TIP:  Open Mon-Sat 8:30am-5:30pm and Sun 10am-5pm.

 

FRESH PLUS GROCERY:

Fresh Plus Grocery has the same mission as Keep Austin Eatin’ with their support of local farmers and companies.  They try to keep as many local products on their shelves, and it has one of the best selections in the city.  Across the street from Josephine House, this is a perfect place to stop by and pick up deli sandwiches, dessert and beer to bring to Pease Park.  Definitely don’t forget to pick up  Sticky Toffee Pudding Co., delicious British style puddings and bars from local Tracy Wilkinson-Claros.

PEASE DISTRICT PARK:

Pease District Park is a short 1/2 mile down the road, and is one of the greatest green spaces in the hub of Austin.  It’s a great place to bring the whole family to set up a picnic, ride bikes, run or play on the jungle gym along Shoal Creek any day of the week.  With 42 acres of land, there is plenty of space to enjoy the gorgeous weather.

TIP:  Kids area at Kingbury & Parkway. Picnic tables along Parkway on the western side of the park.
