HOKKAISAN:
Hokkaisan is a Japanese inspired grocery store with everything you can imagine from Japanese imported candy to fresh sushi. Endless counters and racks full of food. You could spend hours perusing the shop. My husband and I love coming here after a run and grabbing a super fresh sushi bowl and dessert. Even if we are there for a short minute, it seems as if the shelves are constantly being filled with fresh food. And upstairs, they have a speakeasy sushi counter and event space. I am so glad they ended up downtown!
THE CONTEMPORARY:
The Contemporary is one of the best museums in Austin, with some of the best exhibits that come throughout the world and land in Austin. They have multiple levels of great art, and a rooftop with views that will take your breath away. It’s one of my favorite venues in the whole city…enjoy!
PARAMOUNT:
The Paramount Theater first opened its doors in 1915 and has since been declared a historic landmark. Check the Paramount Theater schedule to see what will be happening when you visit Austin. The Paramount plays host to comedians, Presidents, musicians, and nights of classic film screenings.
GIBSON TEN FOOT GUITARS:
Scattered throughout downtown Austin are several unmistakable Gibson guitars. All painted by, sponsored by, or signed by different local artists or celebrities. The artwork is all unique, even the medium used to decorate the guitars varies from paint to mirrors. Have fun walking from the Capital down Congress Avenue finding the guitars.

TEXAS STATE CAPITOL:
Designated as a National Historic Landmark, the Texas State Capitol is beautiful to tour inside or out. Their website provides excellent self-guided tours* of the inside of the capitol, outside grounds and monuments. They also have free tours daily beginning in the Capitol South Foyer and the entire campus is a perfect time to explore and enjoy for hours, whether you are a local or visitor.
Tip: Parking is available in the Capitol Visitors Center.
