BIRDIE’S:

Birdie’s is one of those restaurants, where I know it will be long standing, and an Austin favorite forever. It’s family owned, counter service…and it’s casual, laid back vibe with James Beard (yes…they were nominated!) award winning food.  The menu is constantly changing and they base their entrees on what is in season.  I originally started this blog to honor the chefs, the teams and the farmers behind the food.  This restaurant is exactly what I love…they are like minded…and mind blowing. Enjoy!

ZEDS ICE CREAM:

New Zealand Styled Ice Cream. I could just stop here…and the interest would be piqued enough to try it.  But it’s real fruit!  So, basically, it’s healthy for you. ha.  Okay, okay…but seriously, it is a great, creamy, delicious, unique ice cream and definitely deserves a spot at the top!  Plus, it’s in East Austin.  For those who have followed this blog for awhile, knows I truly love and adore the East side. THUNDERBIRD COFFEE:

Thunderbird Coffee, is right down the street from Bird Bird Biscuit location on Manor, and specializes in their flavorful direct-trade coffee. But there is more than just coffee to be enjoyed. The drink menu features several local brews. If you have room, try the Vegan Chocolate Truffle to satisfy your sweet tooth.

BUTTERFLY BAR:

Butterfly Bar is bar of The Vortex, located down the street, and a casual East Austin hang out with an intimate bar and outside, funky patio.  Almost nightly, the bar has an event or live music to enjoy while drinking local beer, wine or specialty cocktails.

THE VORTEX:

Vortex is an Edgy and Quirky  theatre on the East Side.  The talented writers, actors, and actresses consistently bring productions to this intimate theatre which make audiences smile and laugh.  Their indoor theater is quaint and intimate, and they also have an outdoor stage for productions.
