BACALAR

BACALAR:

Bacalar is a perfect example of what makes Austin so amazing.  Take a local real estate genius, and combine it with a Top Chef winner chef and you have a gorgeous restaurant with amazing food. The restaurant is inspired by Yucatan cuisine and the whole interior has artifacts and beautiful art and furniture that almost feels like a museum! I highly recommend the Grilled Fish or any of their grilled entrees.  The sauces they use here could be sold by the gallon, they are so good. Plus, it’s on Rainey Street which has endless amounts of fun to enjoy!

TIP: Open Tues-Sun for Dinner. Brunch on Sunday. Reservations via Resy.

HALF STEP:

Right down the street is Half Step, a cool bar on Rainey Street.  One of the most amazing transformations on Rainey Street, with keeping the old, and updating into a gorgeous space.  With a simple, light blue paint and a neon sign stating “you earned it” in the front windy, a cozy interior and an outside bar.  It’s become one of Austin’s favorite hang out on Rainey.
