LADY BIRD LAKE & BRUNCH

LADY BIRD LAKE:

Lady Bird Lake is the heartbeat of the city with 10 miles of trails with lakeside views to enjoy walking, running, biking, kayaking or paddle boarding. In 1971, Lady Bird Johnson, Austin Mayor Roy Butler and Ann Butler led the journey to create a trail. Today, there is a path with a dog park, and plenty of places to relax on lawns or benches along the way. Water fountains, showers and bathrooms also line the pathway.  Trail maps can be found on the link above.

Tip: With this itinerary, park at City Hall parking garage at 301 W Second. Entrance is on Lavaca Street. Free until 5pm, then $5 flat fee. Entrance for the park is across Cesar Chevaz Street.

AUSTIN JAVA:

Day or night, after enjoying the trail, check out Austin Java for a nice, casual meal on the patio. They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner entrees and alcohol, and also provide a kids menu.  They serve breakfast all day, so check out the egg, sausage, mushroom and cilantro breakfast taco and enjoy a perfect experience of relaxation.

Tip: Pet Friendly. Drink and Entrée specials daily.  Check out website above for more details.
